Catalina Island (Trans Catalina Trail) delivers more than I expected.
Updated: Apr 5, 2019
My friend and I decided that through hiking Catalina Island on the Trans Catalina Trail would be a nice spring training trip. It turned out that the weather was perfect and the trail was more challenging than we expected. Most of the campgrounds were on the beach and the trail rises above the ocean in steep increments to about 1600 feet. The steep climbs and descents made for a fun filled week of hiking. The scenery was beautiful and the crowds were non-existent. So I would say March is a great month to head on over to Catalina Island and do some Trekking.
